Good evening Sofia!
How are you? I hope you and your family have been having a great summer in Italy!
I’ve had a very productive one, with my first in-person performances in over a year and studying a lot of new repertoire.
And of course, Fracasso has been my faithful friend and guide through it all! I have a recording of myself playing a pair of Paganini Caprices just a few weeks ago, and it was really a fascinating experience, to say the least: Fracasso’s depth of sound and sheer power is simply incredible.
It was much louder than all the other students’ instruments (to the point that a few audience members attending via Zoom asked for the microphone levels to be adjusted since Fracasso’s sound was blowing the maximum limit of the microphone!), and a woody explosion of sound can be heard at close range in the hall.
That said, the power in Fracasso’s sound is balanced with delicate clarity so that all the notes are heard regardless of dynamic.
I have to admit that I’m tempted to give it a nickname: Il Piccolo Cannone, or The Little Cannon!

Hi Sofia, after playing the violin for almost a month the violin sound is getting even better as the days goes by!
The warm and rich harmonic tone is really beautiful! I am so glad I got this violin 🎻!
And also your varnish is so unbelievable it’s seems to flow on it’s own and cover up the prints that was created by my carelessness.
Violin making is so fascinating and I am slowly understanding why you are so devoted!

Hi Sofia, I feel so honored to own one of your violins.
I'm going to bring it back home later today.
I guess it's all about fate. I took the violin randomly to test some bows. We Hence I took off from work on last Thursday to try it out for fun.
And I never expect my teachers to approve it within 2-3 mins of trying it.

The Violin plays an important part in creating a great violinist. Beyond skills and techniques, a good violin will allow you to produce tones you never thought were possible. A good violin will allow you to reach beyond your potential. That is exactly what my violin, Ospedaletto has allowed me to do.
I first laid eyes on Ospedaletto in late 2019 when I was 11 years old and looking for a full size violin. After trying a few other violins from the Vettori family, Sofia’s Ospedaletto turned out to be the perfect fit for my frame at that time. Despite it being slightly smaller compared to other full size violins, it does not lack clarity nor brilliance, and best yet, it allows for almost effortless projection.
The tone is crystal clear and focused. The focused tone makes articulation easier. Ospedaletto produces a brilliant, clear, clean and yet rich sound.
To me brilliance is synonymous with sparkling.
A brilliant quality is very important particularly in the upper registers, this is where Ospedaletto’s strength shines.
To me, Ospedaletto is a great violin and I truly appreciate Sofia Vettori’s craftsmanship.

Sofia, I am so happy to see you and your farther in the little films on Facebook. It is very nice to see how you work together to make a wonderful piece of art. What a nice surprise to enter your atelier in 2008 and I was immediately taken by the wonderful cherry wood cello. A very warm and singing voice.
After so many years this cello is my favorite cello because of its tonal quality and visual beauty. It is something magic you put in your instruments. The sound has a freshness and is, rich and full. It has a depth normally found in very old instruments.
I feel very grateful and lucky to have met you and your family, and now my twin sons also want to play the cello. Let’s keep in touch and I will follow you every day.
Let’s talk in the near future about your last king Tarquinius Superbus.

Well, Ionio has been my faithful companion through many dark months this past year, always quietly there, ready to fill the air with wonderful sound.
The varnish has been developing some nice and interesting craquelure, mainly along the surface of the top plate, but also in limited areas along the ribs and some edges of the maple back. I really love the color of the violin, and also how you did not antique it or weather it on purpose.
Anyway, thanks again for your dedication to this craft and art form, Sofia. I am lucky to be able to admire your skill, sensibilities and artistry every time I pick up that violin.
I hope you are all well! Please take care, and I hope you are all enjoying spring!
